Independent Spirits as seen in Handwriting

    October 21, 2008 /

One of the first things that you can see in handwriting is an independence of spirit. Let me give you a few examples. Freud stands out as one of the most notable independent spirits of the 20th century. So much so that he single-handedly changed the attitudes and outlook of the last century. The influence of his revolutionary theories affected every aspect of society from relationships and morality to literature, psychology and religion. Even today we are still affected by the backlash of the moral tsunami that he set in motion. You may agree with his theories or not but you have to agree about one thing.  Freud was a…

Hobbies and crafts for happiness and peace of mind

    October 6, 2008 /

Hobbies and crafts play an important part in our lives.  In these turbulent times they bring a little sanity and peace of mind into our busy lives.  They centre us and give us many hours of contentment and happiness. A good hobby gives us something to escape to in the midst of tension and turmoil. It isn’t possible to over-estimate the importance of a satisfying hobby. It can even sow the seeds of a future career. But mostly, a great hobby is something that we enjoy doing. It gives us something to look forward to and gives us happiness and peace of mind.

Cardmaking tips – How to Make your own Greeting Cards

    September 19, 2008 /

These cardmaking tips will help you make your own greeting cards with that professional look. The problem with most handmade cards is that they tend to look just that – homemade. The idea is to have them look artistic but at the same time, also professional. It can be a difficult balance but it’s easy once you know how. Artists are fortunate in that they can decorate their cards with lovely hand painted designs and pictures. But if you are not an artist, one of the best ways to add a genuinely artistic element to your cards is to use pressed flowers. In a way, it’s almost like cheating because…

    The Signs of Creativity

    September 16, 2008 /

Signs of creativity are all around us – if only we can see them. The intricacy of a bird’s nest, an oyster’s pearl, the silver trail left by a snail in the grass – all these are signs of creativity. We are all involved in the act of doing and it is the evidence that we leave behind us as a result of our “doing” that is the mark of our creativity – our own works of creation. Great books, music, the pyramids, magnificent bridges and buildings – these are the hallmarks of our creativity. They are the evidence left by our lives saying; “we were here; we passed this…

    The Biggest Creative Experiment ever

    September 13, 2008 /

Talk about craft and create! The biggest creative experiment ever attempted surely has to be the Large Hadron Collider. With its 27 kilometres of underground tunnel between Switzerland and France the Hadron Collider is like some huge monster waiting to come to life. Scientists are understandably very excited about its potential for scientific discovery. What exactly are they hoping to find? They’re hoping to find the holy grail of science that even escaped Einstein – the theory of everything. They hope to get an understanding of the link between spinning atoms and revolving galaxies.  They hope to find an unseen particle called the Higgs Boson that presumably provides mass and…

    Your Craft and your Personality

    September 2, 2008 /

Do you know that your craft or hobby says a great deal about your personality? Your craft or hobby has a special place in your life. You chose it because it’s important to you. So important, in fact, that it becomes a part of you. We all create. It’s the business of our lives. Knowingly or unconsciously, we are all in the process of crafting or creating something. Not only do we communicate our thoughts and ideas through our crafts – by expressing our creativity we also reveal our individuality. It’s obvious really.  Our interests define our personalities. There are many kinds and many levels of creativity from baking a…
